Christmas Day 2010

On Christmas Day we got to sleep a little later....like till 7:00 and then we went over to my Mom and Dad's (Nana and Papa's) house for Christmas morning brunch that we always have. We didn't do any gifts except for Jonah getting to open his jumper from Granny so he could enjoy it now. He loves jumping in our laps so he got a jumper from his Nana for her house and one from Granny for our house. They are both different and he likes them both and wears himself out jumping and jumping. Here are some pics from Christmas morning at our house and theirs.

Christmas Eve

Well our Christmas is only half over as I type this post. We are anxiously awaiting the arrival of my little brother, Kyle, from Japan. He is in the Navy and has been stationed over there for going on two years. We have held off on doing Christmas on my side of the family until he gets here. All of that to say there will be another Christmas post coming soon after this one.

Christmas Eve we went to Michael's parent's house, Bill and Dee, to celebrate with his 3 brothers and sister and their children and grandchildren. We had a great time and Jonah got a couple of new toys and he behaved so well and took a small nap while we were there. Two of our nephews each have little ones under 2 as well so it was fun to see them this year. The other neices and nephews are all in school and high school so they are getting grown on us. Here are some pictures from that day.

We also stopped by Granny's house (my grandmother) and ate supper with them and visited with family members on my Dad's side.

Jonah is 5 months old!

Well our little man is five months old today and I can hardly believe it! Time is passing very quickly these days and Jonah is growing more and more. He is really getting so animated and showing so much personality with each new day. We are so blessed to get to watch it all! Here are some stats and things he has been up to the past month.

Sleep:

He is sleeping better than ever before.....I should just leave it at that...LOL! No, he is sleeping about 9 hours at night and still needing a feeding in the middle of the night. He was very gassy at night when we first started the rice cereal but it seems to be better. He is taking somewhat routine naps during the day of at least an hour to two hours. He seems to have eliminated a late evening nap and is going down between 8 and 9.

Eating:

He is still eating around 5 ounces every 3 hours. We got the go ahead to start introducing solids from the Dr. So far we have tried the rice cereal, which seemed to make him gassy so we switched to the oatmeal cereal. He seems to tolerate it much better. He caught on fast on how to get that food down and he really likes the apple juice mixed in his cereal. I am hoping he will continue to gobble up what we offer him.

Play:

He loves to bounce, as in us holding him and him jumping in our laps. He is so strong and he pretty much does the bouncing on his own. We just hold him for balance. Nana and Papa already got him a bouncer for Christmas and it took him all of 3 minutes to figure out how to get his bounce on. He loves it! He is getting one for our house from Granny and I can't wait to see how he likes it. He loves to hold small things in his hand and then throw them or drop them out of sight immediately. Of course, we have to pick it back up..LOL. He likes to be pulled to standing position and he likes to be sitting up all the time. He still hasn't rolled over yet but I think that is just because he hates to be on his belly for very long. :(

Personality:

He is cooing and making noises all the time. His new thing this week is coughing. He is not really coughing because he has to but because he just likes being able to make the noise. It's so funny becasue he'lll start that coughing and doesn't stop for about a minute or so.

He loves people and notices faces right away. When we take him to Church and people hold him he just stares at them and then smiles. He is very friendly and social for a baby I think. He loves when you make faces and funny noises. He likes for someone to be in the room with him at all times when he is awake. He wants to know you're there and focusing on him. LOL

Here are some pictures from today at 5 months and some from 4 and 3 months to compare. Those legs are plumping up! We call them his Christmas hams!

4 Month Well-Check

Yesterday we went for Jonah's 4 month well-check. Mom came with us this time because Michael could not get the time off work. Jonah did great as usual and was all smiles until the shots came. He recovered pretty quickly though and was ready for his bottle as soon as they were done. Here are his stats:

Weight: 14 lbs. 12 oz (30th percentile)
Height: 24 inches (7th percentile)
Head Circ.: 42 cm. (24th percentile)

Dr. said he is in the normal range on everything for his age. He has a nasty breakout right now on his face and so the Dr. told us what to put on it to help. We can now start feeding him rice cereal and food!! So excited to see how he does with it! There will be messy eating pictures coming soon!

Santa and other Christmas happenings

Well the tree is up and the house is decorated. I didn't go all out this year just because I don't have as much time and I didn't want to put out more than I want to take down. We went to see Santa for the first time last weekend at a local photography shop. The pictures turned out so good! I have also been taking some pictures here at the house and playing with my new camera. I think they turned out pretty cute too. This poor child is going to have to smile for the camera all the time....I can't help it he's so cute!!

Thanksgiving Day (a little late)

I have just now got around to posting about our Thanksgiving weekend activities. Actually there's not much to post. We ate a lot and visited with family. This year we did Thanksgiving in Dover with my family. Jonah was having a pretty "off" day with naps and such but he was not fussy around everyone. Here are some pictures from the day.

I didn't do any black Friday shopping this year. I thought I did good just to get the Christmas tree up before the end of the weekend. It was nice to be off from work and have extra time with my baby boy and husband.
