Jonah is 6 months old!

Well I cannot believe it has been half a year since we welcomed our little man! Time is really flying these days and I can't make it slow down. I think it has something to do with getting more sleep now and working full time...LOL! Here is what's going on with our little man these days and some pics.

Sleep:

Still sleeping good most nights. Usually about 10 hours total. He usually goes down around 8 or 8:30 and gets up around 6:30. We still get up around 2:00 in the morning to eat a little something and go back to sleep. The only thing is lately he has been waking a little when I lay him back down and I just leave the room and he fusses for a few minutes but goes back to sleep on his own. So that has been good so far and not a lot of crying in the night. We are trying to not go into his room when he cries out and see if he will put himself back to sleep. We are very proud of how far he has come in regards to sleep!

Eating:

Well the eating is going great! He loves his oatmeal ceral in the mornings and evenings. He still likes to have a big bottle first thing in the morning and last thing at night. He loves the fruits....all of them! He especially likes pears and peaches. He loves sweet potatoes but he is not too keen on the other veggies. We have to kind of trick him to eat his carrots, green bean and peas. So far mixing them with fruits is working. We might have a sweet-tooth boy on our hands!

Play:

He is a big player. He still loves his walker (in the kitchen), his bouncer and his stationery gym. He loves rolling around on the ground and catching his fluffy blocks. He finally rolled over own his own! He can roll from back to belly but he can't quite figure out how to roll back off his belly. I am sure he will figure it out soon though. He also loves to sit up on his own with one of us watching his back and sides. I think he loves being able to see everything! I think in a couple of weeks he will be sitting on his own!

Personality:

Jonah is still a very personable baby. He always looks you right in the face when you're talking to him and he does this to people he doesn't know either. He has started grunting all the time. It's a total boy thing I think...LOL! He grunts sometimes in his sleep like he does when he's playing! He also started going from grunting to a high-ptiched squeal...much to his Daddy's dislike...LOL! We think he is going to be a big talker like his Daddy!

Hello!

Whew I made it! Now how do I get off my belly?

Loved You From The Very Start

My Mom sent me this poem she found and it is just so perfect for the way I (and I know every mother) feels about their babies. I just wanted to share it and some recent pictures of Jonah.

I loved you from the very start
Author: Unknown
I loved you from the very start,
You stole my breath, embraced my heart.
Our life together has just begun,
You're part of me my little one.
As mother with child, each day I grew,
My mind was filled with thoughts of you.
I'd daydream of the things we'd share,
Like late-night bottles and teddy bears.
Like first steps and skinned knees,
Like bedtime stories and ABC's.
I thought of things you'd want to know,
Like how birds fly and flowers grow.
I thought of lessons I'd need to share,
Like standing tall and playing fair.
When I first saw your precious face,
I prayed your life be touched with grace.
I thanked the angels from above,
And promised you unending love.
Each night I lay you down to sleep,
I gently kiss your head and cheek.
I count your little fingers and toes;
I memorize your eyes and nose.
I linger at your nursery door,
Awed each day I love you more.
Through misty eyes, I dim the light,
I whisper, "I love you" every night.
I loved you from the very start,
You stole my breath, embraced my heart.
As mother and child our journeys begin,
My heart's yours forever my little friend.

Jonah is 6 months old today and I just cannot believe how fast the time has gone by. In the first couple of weeks after he was born sometimes it seemed like the days and weeks were so long. Probably because we weren't getting much sleep. But oh how I wish I could go back to those days for just a minute to remember how "new" he was! He is getting so big and learning new stuff it is just amazing how fast they do new things and learn new skills. I am enjoying watching him grow and blossom and I know it's only the beginning. But sometimes in my selfishness I want him to slow down and just stay right where he is at right now. At the same time I am excited for all the fun we will be having in the coming months and years.

NYE & Christmas with Kyle

On New Year's Eve night we had our "official" Christmas with my side of the family. My brother, Kyle, got to come home from Japan where he is stationed with the Navy. We were so glad to see him!! He had not seen Jonah since he was 2 weeks old so he had changed a LOT! Here are some pics from that night and the next day at Ken & Jenny's open house.
