PreK, Work Trips & Hoping To Stay Sane

I don't have much in the way of pictures to show for the last week but I do have a few things going on.

First thing is I took Haley for her belated 6 month pictures. She is 7 (almost 8) months old in them but I wanted to wait until she could sit up good by herself. Our photographer posted a couple of sneak peaks on Facebook that I just have to share here. My Mom made the name banner behind her on the first one. I am in love with both of these so not sure how I will pick from the rest!

I love the vintage editing she did on this one. Haley was such a ham for us! It was fun!

Second thing is the hubby left today for a work trip and will be gone all week. Boooo! I was pretty much in denial that he was going until yesterday when he started packing. He will be a few states away from us and I know he hates being away too but he will be taking a class and test to better himself at work so what can you do?! I will be holding down the fort by myself but with my parent's help if I need it. Jonah asked for his Daddy first thing this morning and when I told him he was gone he was not happy but at least he didn't get too upset. I made us a paper chain for each day he will be gone and am going to let Jonah cut one of them each night. I hope that will help some.

The last big news is that I registered Jonah for a PreK program with a church about 45 minutes away from us. It came highly recommended and I think it will be what he needs to prepare him for kindergarten in 2015. It will just be 2 days a week and about 5 hours each day. So not too bad. It doesn't start until August so we have lots of time to get him prepped for going. I am excited for him to learn and be in a Christian learning environment. I toured the school last week and was so impressed. They have a chapel time each week as well as Art, Music and Science special classes. The 4 year old's have their hallway and there are 2 teachers in each small class. The people there were so friendly too! I think he will love it!

This and That and A Lot of Nothing Important

I am going to try really hard to do a blog post each week. I want to remember what these days, weeks and years are made up of before they fly right on past. That's why I started this blog in the first place...but then the weeks just fly right by. So I may be posting random thoughts and things that may bore you out of your mind to read but at least one day I can look back on them.

1. Last week we had the biggest snow and sleet that I can ever remember and it just hung around and hung around. This is so unusual for our part of Tennessee. Usually it snows and by the next day the temps are back up and it's gone. Not the case this time. It sleeted like close to 5 inches and then came a snow storm and all total we had about 1 foot of snow from Monday - Friday last week. The mail didn't even run on Monday and no one went anywhere. Michael stayed home from work too. It was great snow to sled in though! We didn't have a sled for Jonah (#parentfail) but we just pushed him down a small hill in our yard in his little tykes car. It just glided right on the top of the snow.

2. We've had the same end tables in our living room since before we got married (almost 10 years ago) and I love them. they are sturdy and deep and work perfectly beside a couch. But lately I have felt there was too much brown in our living room (brown, carpet, brown leather sectional and brown tables and beige walls) so I finally decided to bite the bullet and paint them. I had a lot of Annie Sloan Pure White chalk paint left so that's what I used. It only took me both of Haley's naps on Saturday to get them painted and I am loving the white!

AFTER

I still need to apply the wax and distress them a bit.

Hope you have a great week!

Haley is 7 Months Old!

Happy 7 Months Haley!

We don't go back for a well-check until mid-May so I am not sure exactly how much Haley weighs but it's somewhere between 14 and 15 lbs. Here are a few stats.

-Still eating 4 5oz bottles and one 4 oz bottle right before bed. Usually gets up in the night to eat a full bottle too.

-Still wearing size 2 diapers

-Wearing 6 month clothes very well and some 6-9 month ones.

-Sitting up by yourself! You are doing great at holding yourself upright but sometimes still all to the side.

Sleep:

Teething has thrown your naps off a lot during the day but you are still sleeping a good 10 hours at night. You are still getting up just about every night to eat. I really don't mind it because you go right back to sleep once you get that belly full again. Right now you are an early waker like your brother was and 6 a.m. is your wake-up. This is Mommy and Daddy's usual wake-up time too so it's sometimes interesting. :) We really can't complain about your sleeping and I know one day I'll miss feeding you in the middle of the night.

Eating:

You are still liking those 5 oz. bottles. I am just glad we finally got you up to taking 24 oz or more every 24 hours. I was worried we would never get there for a while. You've got some growing to do! Now the food.....well you love squash and sweet potatoes. You didn't care much for carrots but you did eat them. Now we need to tackle the rest of the veggies and some fruits. Your Mama has been slow on the food and you are not a big fan of the cereals. I need to do better about making sure you get more food but I just don't want to mess up the good bottle thing we have going. I do wonder sometimes if more table food would help you sleep all night....LOL!

Playing:

You are a playing girl! Those little hands are into whatever they can reach and grab. And it usually goes straight to the mouth first. You love to chew on stuffed animals and all of your playmat toys. You love to pull Mommy's hair and clothes and just chew on a rag sometimes. You are rolling from your back to your belly ALMOST but won't get that one arm out of your way. You'll have your legs, hips and head turned down but just that one arm in the way. It drives us crazy because we know you should be rolling around really good but we don't want to "help" you so you'll figure it out on your own. I know you'll get there eventually.

Overall Personality:

Overall you are still a mostly content girl but teething has proven that wrong sometimes. I hate to see you hurting with those teeth and it seems like you are cutting two at a time. The two lower ones on each side of the middle ones are going to cut through any day now. Then hopefully you'll get some relief. You are pretty good self-soother though! You still love to watch whatever Jonah is doing and get the biggest cackles from watching him. You love to be tickled and played with and seem like you are going to be really into people.

We can't wait to see what's in store for this month!
