Haley is 12 Months Old!

Our sweet baby girl is 1 whole year old! Gosh! I don't know where this last year has gone but boy has it been a fun adventure! We are preparing to celebrate our sweetie pie this weekend with a Pink Lemonade theme birthday party. She is our little Miss Sunshine!

Milestones this past month:

-Scooting on her bottom everywhere! She is into it all!
-Drinking and holding her sippy cup
-Sleeping ALL night long!
-Talking and jabbering away
-Has 6 teeth and cutting a couple more right now

Sleeping:

As I mentioned above, Haley has finally started to consistently sleep all night long. (I hope I didn't just jinx it) She goes down around 8:30 and wakes anywhere from 6-7 each morning. She still takes 2 solid naps a day of 1-2 hours each. She can go longer and longer now between naps so that is good. Now we can actually go more places in between naps. We could not have asked for a better sleeper than our Hay Hay! Just proof that God hears all prayers (because oh yes I did pray for a better sleeper) and He answers them.




Eating:

Still doing baby food and puff snacks and drinking water with food. She still takes 7 ounces every 4-5 hours. She eats lunch and dinner baby food but still doesn't eat a whole lot of quantity. She just doesn't seem to want a lot of food like some babies. She is health and growing so we can't complain. I know we will get to the bigger pieces of food in time but I am not going to rush it and go off of her. She is paying more attention when we eat so I know she will get there soon.




Playing:

INTO EVERYTHING! We have officially baby-proofed the main floor (the basement is still iffy but we don't go down there much) We have to close doors and put up gates now. She is so fast with scooting and she picks up every tiny piece of anything she sees on the floor. So sweeping and vacuuming feels like all I do. She loves her toys though and has started to love touch and feel books too. They keep her entertained a lot when I need to sit and hold her (like at church) and keeps her quiet. She still chews on pretty much anything she gets her hands on. I will be glad when that phase is over! She loves for us to pretend chase her and she takes off scooting. She loves to swing outside in the baby swing and loves to be pushed around in her stroller.




We are thankful to the good Lord that she has remained healthy during her whole first year and that she is growing so beautifully. I am very biased but I think she is just the prettiest baby girl! People tell us that she is so pretty all the time but we know she is just fearfully and wonderfully made. I am so nostalgic here lately with Jonah just turning 4 and now Haley is 1. I just wish that time could stand still but it cannot. We just pray we are teaching them both how to grow in the Lord and in wisdom and knowledge that they can use throughout their lives.

Haley is 11 Months Old!

Wow! Time has flown so quickly that I am just now updating on Haley and she turned 11 months old July 5th. The holiday weekend through me off and then just the busyness of life. Here is what she has been up to this past month(s).

Milestones:
-drinking from a sippy cup with water
-can definitely say hi and bye bye and wave....in her own little voice and words
-scooting all over the place but not crawling
-wearing some 12 month clothes already

Eating:

Haley went up a size in bottle nipple and also has gone up to 7 ounce bottles at each feeding. We think she hit a growth spurt because she has been eating so good lately. She still gets up in the night and eats though. She eats a good lunch of baby food but dinner is hit or miss with her. Sometimes  she is up for food and sometimes not. We still have a hard time feeding her slightly solid food because she pukes or gets choked very easily still. She hasn't learned to use those teeth she has yet, I don't think. We will just keep at it.

Sleeping:

Still taking 2 naps a day but now they are IN THE BED!! She finally just outgrew and started hating the swing and she was just ready for the bed. She has done great and doesn't fuss now when we lay her down and walk out of the room. She rolls around and wiggles until she finds her spot and then she just zonks out. She still goes down for the night around 8-8:30 each night. We are so blessed with how well she does with sleeping! I am so glad to be done with the swings too and of course, it was much easier than I had myself all worked up for.

Playing:

Scooting everywhere!! She does not crawl or even try to really. She just scoots her legs and pulls herself to whatever she wants. She is surprisingly fast. She is so curious though about plastic bags, cords, outlets, etc. so we have to watch her like a hawk and have already started baby-proofing a lot. She is going to be our kid that gets into everything, I just know! Jonah never wanted to get into drawers and pull stuff out but I think she will. She loves to take stuff out of a box or bin and just throw it. She loves to clap and hear songs or be sung to. Haley loves to watch Jonah run around and gets so tickled at him. She loves to watch Mickey, Sheriff Callie and Doc McStuffins and the Bible song videos in the van. She loves to take a bath still and plays and plays with her toys in the tub. She would stay in there for an hour, if I let her. She is just growing so much and experiencing so many new things everyday.

Personality:

Still such a content baby and will play with the toys around her for several minutes before getting bored. She just lets us know when she is hurting, hungry or sleepy. She has her diva moments and doesn't like getting dressed that much or getting a diaper change. She also is not fan of grocery shopping. I think she just gets tired of the cart very quickly and wants to be down playing. Jonah used to be so content to just ride along in the cart and look around, but not her. She wants to be moving and out of it! We may try her in a stroller next time where she is facing out to see what is coming ahead.

We love our little baby girl so much and can't believe that it's almost been a year since she arrived in the world! We are getting everything ready for a sweet little birthday party to celebrate our summer, sunshiny girl!

Haley is 10 Months Old!

Haley turned double-digits on June 5th! I can hardly believe we are so close to her turning 1!


Milestones/Stats:

-Probably around 16 lbs right now. I know, she is a tiny girl for her age. She is healthy though!
-Not crawling but scooting around some.
-One new tooth and one more about to break through. Now up to 5 teeth!


Sleep:

Sleep is still the same. Most nights she wakes after midnight to eat and then is up around 6 each morning. She is still taking 2 naps and we are going to have to start doing those in the bed and not the swing. We have taken advantage of the swing for so long because she is so little but now she is really starting to wiggle more when she is in it, even strapped in. So we need to make the transition but I just hope it doesn't totally ruin us on her naps.

Eating:

We are finally up to 6 oz. bottles at every feeding. It felt like we would never get here and honestly I just don't see her taking much more than that while she is on formula. She is just so little that her belly won't hold any more. Sometimes she still spits up some it with a burp but not very often. The food thing is going ok. I think I have figured out that she has a sensitive gag reflex. I think this because even when I give her one single puff, if it gets stuck on the back of her tongue before dissolving she gags and has thrown up her last formula meal some from it if I don't get her water to wash it down quick enough. Ugh! I just don't think solid foods are in our near future until that gag reflex calms down. We have figured out that she prefers the squeeze bags of baby food over being spoon fed. She just isn't a huge fan of the spoon.  While we still aren't where I would like us be with food. at least we are figuring out some things.

 Playing:

Well no crawling but you are figuring out how to get to things you want. Most of the time you twist and reach and lean and stretch those tiny fingers until you grasp what you are after. We underestimate how far you can reach all the time. This is evidenced in the fact that I'll sit you in the bumbo on the table and sit an opened water bottle several feet from you but still you manage to get one finger on it and down it goes. I'm sad to say this has happened for than once to your Mama and I still haven't learned. LOL You love to play with toys and throw balls. You still love to chew on most everything you get your hands on. For some reason you are fascinated with tags and straps. You chew on the straps of your car seat, bumbo and the diaper bag straps when you get hold of them. You find the tags on everything and they go straight to your mouth. They must be extra delicious to you. Jonah is still your favorite thing to watch and interact with. When he pays you any amount of attention you just eat it up! He is starting to see that once you get mobile you will be into all his stuff and he is not a fan. LOL

Personality:

Still mostly content but I have to admit that you are somewhat of a diva these days. You have always been particular about how you are fed (in quiet room, held a certain way and take the bottle a certain way) but you starting to get particular about lots of other things. We have found that what makes you maddest is to be left on the floor playing when you want to be picked up. This mainly applies to your Mama because that who you usually want. You get plum mad if Daddy tries to pick you up instead of your preferred Mama. You are definitely a Mama's girl!

Haley is 9 Months Old!

So let's pretend that this update isn't almost a whole month late....hoping to get back on track next month with these posts and all other posts.

Being as this post is late, some of my memories of what Haley has been doing will be mingled with what she actually is doing right now.

Milestones/Stats:

-Still drinking 5-6 oz bottles 5-6 bottles a day
-Still not a fan of the baby foods at all...will this child ever eat food!?
-Still wears size 2 diapers and is in 9 month clothes
-Dr. appt. stats: Weight = 15 lb 13 oz (12th %), Height = 27 inches (22nd %) and Head = 45 cm (79th %).


Sleep:

Haley's sleep is still good in my book but she does still wake in the night for a bottle some of the time. Ever since she had those back-to-back ear infections it seems she just doesn't sleep as solid as she used to. I am hoping it's just growing phase. She still takes 2 decent naps of 1-2 hours but she is usually completely done with her naps by 3 at the latest each day. So around 5-6 she is tired but won't take another nap so we don't push it and she goes down very easy at around 8 each night. I am hoping we can work her afternoon nap more and more towards her going down at 2, rather than at 1 so there is not such a long stretch each evening and we can actually do some stuff in the middle of the day more. We are still so blessed by how good she sleeps in general that I can't complain too much. Oh, and naps are still in the swing.....I know....

 Eating:

So like I mentioned, at 9 months she was still taking mostly 5 and sometimes 5.5 ounce bottles during the day. If she woke in the night she would take a big 6 ounce sometimes too because she was hungry. Haley does so much better at taking her bottles all straight and not starting and stopping. Now we just have to keep working on that food. I won't lie and say that I haven't stressed over it quite a bit. I know she will eat when she is ready and she is showing all the signs to be ready such as chomping with her gums and reaching for stuff and holding it well at her mouth. I just can't seems to figure out how to help her like eating. I guess it's something she will just have to figure out on her own with us just continuing to offer her things. 

Play:

Busy, busy girl our Haley is! She loves her toys and plays very well for long stretches by herself. She loves to chew on stuff and throw it and then try to pull it back to herself. She loves to scream/talk and loves to be teased with just about anything. We've also found that she loves to play pretty rough with her Daddy. She loves to be tossed up the air (not huge) and hung upside down. I think she is going to be our thrill-seaker and adventurous kid. I know once she gets mobile that she will be into everything. If something is within her reach she is going to grab it and bring it to her mouth. Jonah wasn't like this at all. He got into stuff but not everything like she wants to.  Haley also figured out  or became more aware of things being on her head (headbands and sun hats) and she can take them off now. So our headband days are numbered, I know. Just hoping we can make it 12 months because she doesn't have enough hair for bows yet.

Personality:

This month Haley has started recognizing faces and putting names to them. When we ask her where someone is she looks right at them. She also knows what Hi and Bye mean and she can wave for both.  She is still a very content baby but whoa does she let you know when she ain't happy or doesn't like where we've put her. She is hard to ignore so I mostly just pick her up....I know I'm starting great habits but unless it's something I just can't pick her up for I usually do or at least change her location. So far teething and just general sickness are the only things that get our little "sunshine" girl down but who can blame her with those two. Haley is also more aware of people she doesn't know and she likes them from afar but not up close so she definitely has the "stranger danger" going on now.

I can't believe we are almost to 10 months and then so very close to her being 1! I have started getting ideas and things together for her party too!

Haley is 8 Months Old! {4.5.2014}

I really was hoping Haley would just stay 7 months old! LOL! I need to get a grip because it's crazy that she is closer to being 1 than being zero. Haha! In a few short months we will be lighting a single candle and watching her dive in. Anywho, here's what she has been up to this past month. It's been a doozey!!

Milestones this month and stats:
-Haley is a little over 15 lbs (per Dr. scale...more about that below)
-Has 4 teeth now! (2 bottom and 2 top)
-Out of 6 month clothes and into more 6-9 month clothes but full 9 month ones are still big
-Still in size 2 diaper
-Eating 5 5ounces bottles a day
-Loves sweet potatoes, pears, peaches and sometimes carrots. She is not digging much food. :(
-Is sitting up perfect and will reach as far as she can for toys
-Had her first cold and ear infections and sick Dr. visit

Sleep:

Due to Haley's cold and not being able to breath well she has not been as good of a sleeper but you can't blame her. I had forgotten how a little cold could totally screw up their sleep routines. Naps got off and feedings got off and so of course her night sleep got off. She still wanted to be asleep but just couldn't sleep well from either not being able to breath out of her nose for a few days or just feeling bad in general. Propping her crib mattress up a little and using a cool mist humidifier helped a lot. When she started running a low grade fever after I thought she was getting better, I decided to take her to the Dr. Thankfully her lungs sounded fine but she had double ear infections.  Yuck! So she has been on meds for that I think she is starting to feel better the last couple days and finally start eating more normal. I was so thankful none of us were sick this whole winter but spring has sprung and we all had the same cold, just hate that her's turned into ear infections.

Eating:

Haley has not wanted to eat much baby food since she got sick so we are kind of starting over again with all that. She seems to be pretty picky about food but I hope she will grow out of it as she can eat more table food. I kind of would love to just skip the baby food all together. LOL!

Playing:

Haley loves to play on her mats and will just hop from one toy to next, usually just chewing on them and throwing them down for the next one. She has not tried to crawl at all yet. She also still loves the TV and will watch any cartoon that is on. Sometimes it's handy when I need to drop her and run to another room to get something but I know it's not a great habit for her to watch much TV.

 Personality:

On the days that Haley was the most sick or not feeling well she was not very content but it was such a change to her normal contented self. So now we know how to tell when she is not feeling well. She is still such a happy and content baby for the most part. Loves to be talked to and loves to flash her little grin. She is getting leery of strangers now but recognizes most of us that she sees regularly. Haley has also started letting us know when she is ready to be picked up. She will hold her little arms up just a little and drop anything she has in her hands and just watch to see if you will come get her. She also started reaching for me when someone else is holding her. Melt my heart!! I think this prissy pants is going to be a Mommy's girl through and through. :)

Thankful for another mostly healthy month with our precious prissy pants!

Haley is 7 Months Old!

Happy 7 Months Haley!

We don't go back for a well-check until mid-May so I am not sure exactly how much Haley weighs but it's somewhere between 14 and 15 lbs. Here are a few stats.

-Still eating 4 5oz bottles and one 4 oz bottle right before bed. Usually gets up in the night to eat a full bottle too.

-Still wearing size 2 diapers

-Wearing 6 month clothes very well and some 6-9 month ones.

-Sitting up by yourself! You are doing great at holding yourself upright but sometimes still all to the side.

Sleep:

Teething has thrown your naps off a lot during the day but you are still sleeping a good 10 hours at night. You are still getting up just about every night to eat. I really don't mind it because you go right back to sleep once you get that belly full again. Right now you are an early waker like your brother was and 6 a.m. is your wake-up. This is Mommy and Daddy's usual wake-up time too so it's sometimes interesting. :) We really can't complain about your sleeping and I know one day I'll miss feeding you in the middle of the night.

Eating:

You are still liking those 5 oz. bottles. I am just glad we finally got you up to taking 24 oz or more every 24 hours. I was worried we would never get there for a while. You've got some growing to do! Now the food.....well you love squash and sweet potatoes. You didn't care much for carrots but you did eat them. Now we need to tackle the rest of the veggies and some fruits. Your Mama has been slow on the food and you are not a big fan of the cereals. I need to do better about making sure you get more food but I just don't want to mess up the good bottle thing we have going. I do wonder sometimes if more table food would help you sleep all night....LOL!

Playing:

You are a playing girl! Those little hands are into whatever they can reach and grab. And it usually goes straight to the mouth first. You love to chew on stuffed animals and all of your playmat toys. You love to pull Mommy's hair and clothes and just chew on a rag sometimes. You are rolling from your back to your belly ALMOST but won't get that one arm out of your way. You'll have your legs, hips and head turned down but just that one arm in the way. It drives us crazy because we know you should be rolling around really good but we don't want to "help" you so you'll figure it out on your own. I know you'll get there eventually.

Overall Personality:

Overall you are still a mostly content girl but teething has proven that wrong sometimes. I hate to see you hurting with those teeth and it seems like you are cutting two at a time. The two lower ones on each side of the middle ones are going to cut through any day now. Then hopefully you'll get some relief. You are pretty good self-soother though! You still love to watch whatever Jonah is doing and get the biggest cackles from watching him. You love to be tickled and played with and seem like you are going to be really into people.

We can't wait to see what's in store for this month!

Haley is 6 Months Old!

Haley is now 6 months old! To think that half a year has passed since she came into our lives is just shocking! It feels like she has always been here and that she was just born!


I feel like we are really hitting our stride with her and watching her blossom. She is very predictable but also doing lots of new things.

Milestones:

-Cut her first teeth on the bottom in the front!
-Started sleeping in her crib at night!
-Is starting to do great at sitting up but still needs help.
-Starting on solid food.
-Wearing size 6 month clothes exclusively and size 2 diapers
-Dr. Visit Stats: 14 lbs 4 oz (15th percentile), 24 inches long (5th percentile), head circ. 44 cm. (90th percentile). Was healthy and on track developmentally. She it petite but her head is big! Haha!

Sleeping:

Still doing very good with sleep and still takes 3 naps a day. Two long ones and one short one in the evening. Haley still sleeps a good long stretch at night and takes a bottle and then goes back to sleep. She is sleeping in her crib now at night exclusively. She had been in her swing before. I worried and stressed that this transition would be hard and kept putting it off. Michael kept saying we needed to go ahead and move her. Especially when 2 different, nice swings pooped out on us. We were on our last backup swing and decided to try it one Friday night. We figured if it didn't go well at least we didn't both have to work the next day. Well we set a timer for 5 minutes and said after that we would go in and get her if she was still fussing. She did fuss for 5 minutes and I was just about to go in there but then she started to calm down so I waited. She started fussing again so we set the timer for 2 more minutes. After that was up I started to go in and she calmed down so I stood outside her door. Well she was already asleep! So what I had worried and stressed over for so long was NOTHING! Isn't that how it always goes? She still sleeps in her swing for naps some when we can't get her settle down in the crib. Overall , though we are so proud of her. Also another milestone in the sleep department is that she does not sleep swaddled anymore. We swaddled her for the first 5 months of her life but now she is making the transition to sleeping with free arms. I have to say though that those HALO sleep sacks are wonderful for swaddling and keeping babies warm in the bed!

Eating:

Haley still eats 5 oz. every 4 hours during the day and takes a bottle in the night. She has gotten to where she will sleep sometimes from 8:30 till 4:30 and then wants something to eat. That is hard because we don't feel we can give her full 5 oz. because she will not sleep long enough for her next feeding and then her schedule for the day is all off. We are hoping that once we start the foods completely that she will sleep all night long. Haley is doing much better with finishing her bottles even if we have to stop a few times for burps or readjusting. She used to would not ever take it back once she stopped. Oatmeal hasn't gone great but I think she just doesn't really like the texture of it. We are going to start on the yellow veggies this week so we'll see how it goes.

Playing:

Haley can hold things and chew on them now and she loves to sit up and see what's around her. Her hand and eye coordination is getting better and better. She loves to jump when we hold her standing up in our laps. She still loves to play on her play mat and can grasp all the objects above her head. She loves to be sung to and loves to watch her big brother run around. They are starting to interact more than ever but he still mostly ignores her. We are working on sitting up and she can hold herself up without falling forward but once she heads backwards or to one side or the other she doesn't brace herself for the fall. I think she will be sitting up by the end of this month though. She can roll from her back to her side but just won't move that one arm to let her self roll completely over. She will stay on her side for a while though.

Personality:

Still just the most smiley and content baby. Haley is content to hang out in her bouncy seats and the play mat for extended periods of time. She is content to lay in her bed and just be until she gets sleepy or hungry. She is also grunting and cooing a lot at us and we are getting better at figuring out what makes her laugh. I've said that if I knew all babies were like her I would have another one. But I do know they aren't all like that because of her brother LOL! He was not a very content baby. :)

Haley is 5 Months Old!

Our sweet girl is 5 months old! Haley turned 5 months on 1.5.2014. She is a sweet ray of sunshine in our lives!

We don't go back to the Dr. until next month but I am guessing she weighs around 13 pounds. All her 3 month size clothes are tight on her but the leg and arm length is perfect. She wears some 3-6 month stuff and even some 6 month stuff. It just depends on the brand.

 Sleeping:

Haley does great at night. Some nights she doesn't even wake up to eat but most of the time she eats around 2-3 a.m. She takes 2 good long naps a day of around 2 hours and usually one shorter evening nap before going down for the night. We can't complain about how well she sleeps. She is still being swaddled to sleep and still sleeps in the swing. I think we are going to need to transition her to her crib fully at night VERY soon. I am not looking forward to this and yes I know I brought it on myself! LOL!

Eating:

We have been cleared to start solids but we have chose not to yet. No real reason other than I am not ready for it. Ha! Haley is doing really well right now with taking her bottle and we are still fixing 5 ounce bottles. Most of the time she takes 4.5 - 5 oz at each feeding. She still goes every 4 hours (her own schedule) between feedings. We will probably start some oatmeal here soon and see how she does. We just got a bumbo seat so I think that will help with trying it. I am in no rush to start all the food but I really want to talk to her Dr. at her 6 month visit about it all again.

Playing:

Haley is very close to rolling over from her back and her belly. She did roll from belly to back a couple of times last week but I think it was fluke because I had just laid her on her belly when she did it both times. She can get herself onto her side when she on her back she just can't get her arms out of her way to roll on over. It will be soon! This is another reason why we need to start transitioning her out of the swing. She is reaching out and grabbing anything close to her too! She will grab at my hair, mouth and nose when I hold her. It's adorable to see her explore. She tries to reach out and grab Jonah too but he usually doesn't stay still long enough for her to accomplish that feat. Haha! She is a giggly and smiling baby most of the time until she gets tired and then she rubs those eyes so much! It's precious! She also has started getting stronger in her legs to stand up on our laps. She will try to jump in these little tiny jumps when you first stand her up. I call it her river dance...lol! Haley still loves to chew on her fingers and doesn't have any interest in a pacifier either.

Personality:

Haley seems to be a very content baby as long as all her feeding and sleeping needs are being met. She likes her schedule and so does her Mommy! Ha! She loves to be looking around and watching everything going on when she is awake. She loves colors. She will watch TV really well especially when Mickey is on. She loves him as much as Jonah does and recognizes his voice. I am not sure that's a good thing or not. We let Jonah watch some Mickey for about 1 hour in the evenings but not every night. That is all we really let him watch though or that he cares to watch so it could be worse. She seems to just be a very easy to please baby and I am so thankful for that!!

Haley is 4 Months Old!

Our little Haley-bug turned 4 months old on December 5th! She has been a busy little girl and doing well. We went for her well-checkup today so I have all her stats now.

Weight: 12.9 lbs (16%)
Height: 23.5 inches (10%)
Head Size: 41.5 cm (69%)

Other Stats:
Clothes: wearing 3 months and they are good an snug. Also wearing some 6 month sleepers.
Diapers: wearing size 1 diapers still but will be out of those soon.

We did not get to see our regular pediatrician this time because we had to cancel due to the weather last week. So I don't feel like I have a good understanding of how on-track she is weight and height size. The pediatrician we saw basically said we needed to up her formula amounts even though I know she will only eat what she wants to eat. She is still up in weight so that is what I'm happy about. Our normal pediatrician usually says there is no worry because at least she is proportionate. I guess we will just have to see how she does from this appointment to her next one with our Dr.

The Dr. we saw did say she was right on track with all her developmental stuff. So that is great!

Sleep:

Haley is still sleeping in her swing and I was relieved to hear from the pediatrician that it's ok for her to do that. We know that once she gains more weight she will need to transition to her crib. She usually goes down around 7:00 and sleeps until around 2-3 am. Then takes a bottle and goes right back to sleep until usually 6:00 am. We will take it! We are still swaddling her but she is getting stronger and able to break out pretty well. She also takes around 3 and sometimes 4 naps a day. Usually two longer ones around 2 hours long and then a late afternoon one for about an hour or so.

Eating:

Haley's eating has been a little off this past week or so but I think it is due to her having a tiny cold and some congestion in her nose. She normally will take 4.5-5 ounces every 4 hours. She is still doing pretty good with taking her bottle but a lot of times once she stops for a burp she won't take it back. This is the reason that I think her weight isn't as much as it should be. But she will still go 4 hours so I am not sure what to do on that. I say she will eat how much she wants and some days/weeks she wants more and some not so much.

Playing:

Haley loves to play with her hands the most. She licks on them and will try sometimes to stick her whole fist in her mouth! She also has just found her feet this week. She loves to grab her left one with her left hand the best. She is also batting at all her toys on her play mat and will even grab a hold of one of them and just hang on for a while. LOL She also loves to watch Jonah run all over the place and her first cackle was at him. He keeps her pretty entertained. She also still loves to watch the TV when it's on. Once she hears it she will crane that neck to see it. LOL She also loves to sit straight up and will use her belly muscles to pull herself to sitting up when she is on my lap. She has really good head control too.

Personality:

Haley is a mostly content baby. She seems to just go along with the flow unless she is getting close to meal time or nap time. Then she gets cranky but that's to be expected. She still can only go about 2 hours of awake time before she is really tired. She rubs that nose and eyes too which is so sweet and something that Jonah never did. She is a smiley baby and will smile and anyone who talks to her. She still is calmed the best by white noise and will usually hush her crying once you turn something like that on.


I can't believe Haley is 1/3rd of the way to being 1! Love our sweet angel-baby!

Haley is 3 Months Old!

Our precious angel-baby is already 3 months into this world! Michael has taken to calling her "angel-baby" because she is just that! Our sweet, sweet angel. He has always called Jonah his "baby-man" so it's only fitting she gets her own name too. :)

Haley has changed so much from last month to this one. I think she has finally "aligned with the universe" to steal the words of our pediatrician. Here is her monthly pic and updates.

Sleep:

Haley is now sleeping through the night!!! But I feel I should disclaimer that she is sleeping in he swing. It's a cradle type swing so she is laid back but still inclined. She can't fall over or out though. But she has been sleeping consistently from 9:00 - 9:30 p.m. to 5:00-6:00 a.m. So we will take it for now. Michael is all concerned about the swing but I am not. I know she will eventually give up that swing as she gets bigger and can roll over. I am in no rush!! I know the second time around that nothing lasts forever and they will only be this little once. We will cross getting her out of the swing when the time comes. :) She is also taking about 4 naps a day. Usually two long ones (2 hours) and a couple of shorter ones such as her late evening one.

Eating:

Haley is up to 5 ounce bottles for the most part. She has her days where it takes her an hour to take the whole bottle and some days she only takes 4 at most feedings and then will take her 5 ounce bottle before bed. She can still be a stinker sometimes to get her to finish up bottles after her first burping. She just loses interest or gets distracted, I guess.


Playing:

Haley is busy girl when she is awake. She is still so content though and just happy to be wherever she ends up being laid or sat. She has been doing lots of kicking and cooing and trying to talk. She loves for someone to talk to her and just grins. It's the sweetest thing!! She has found both of her hands and loves to give them some good licks and munch on them. She follows us around the room with her eyes and turns to look when she hears familiar voices such as her brother's voice. Haley loves the TV too. We can sit her where she can see it and she will just lay there and stare for up to 20 minutes. She must love the colors and movement because I know she can't really see it yet.

Personality:

Haley is just such a content baby for the most part. She lets us know when she is tired and seems to choose sleep over food most of the time. She is addicted to the swing like I mentioned above and if nothing else will calm her then the swing will. She is a very smiley girl and has the cutest little grunts and noises that she makes. She loves to be on our shoulder so she can look around. I think she is going to be my baby that gets into stuff once she can move around.


I have just been soaking up every bit of Haley's baby-ness! I had really forgotten how much I missed having a little armful of baby to carry around. Oh and they smell so good!!

Haley is 2 Months Old!

Haley was 2 months old on Saturday, October 5th! I cannot believe how fast time flies once you have two kids!

Here is our sweet little sugar dumpling on her month-day.

She went for her well-checkup yesterday and she weighted 10 lbs. 9 oz. and was 22 inches long. That puts her in the 26th percentile for weight and 23rd percentile for height. Dr. said she is proportionate so that is good. Her head circumference was in the 72nd percentile though! She is going to have a big ole noggin like her brother. :)

Here is what Miss Priss has been up to this past month....which is not a lot more than last month. LOL

Sleep:

She is getting there! We had a couple of rough weeks just in that she would not sleep a stretch much longer than 2-2 1/2 hours. This was mainly because she would not drink enough milk before bed and then would not drink much during the night. She also was doing funny with eating during the day too. She got to where she would just take about 2 ounces and then we could hardly get her to take the rest. But since moving up in nipple size and letting her go 4 hours between feedings she has been doing much better. Last night she slept from 7:20 to 12:30 and then from around 1:20 to 5:20. So that is a much longer stretch. The Dr. seemed to think that every 4 hours would be a better schedule for her too. This has improved her ability to also nap for longer times during the day because she is fuller, where she had been waking up completely in the middle of her nap times but before the next bottle was due.

Eating:

Well I touched on most of that above but she is up to 4 ounces every 4 hours and we increased her to a level 2 size nipple which has helped so much. My gut told me last week that something was not right because she would just take a couple of ounces and then want some more a couple of hours later but then wouldn't really eat like she was super hungry. Turns out she has been trying to schedule herself and needed our help. I think that coupled with the fact that she was growth spurting and needing more fluid per feeding. I think we are at a good place now and I imagine she will be up to 5 ounces before this next month is over.

Playing:

It's still tricky to keep her awake for much more than an hour after feeding but she is a happy and smiley baby and loves to hear us talk to her. She loves watching the fan and she will stare up at our family pictures on the wall like she is studying them. I think she is just seeing all the colors in them. She definitely knows our voices and reacts to them. She loves to lay on her back and just move her arms and legs all around. We have to swaddle her for naps and night time or those arms will just keep her awake. She is so strong too and will hold that little head up anytime we put her on our shoulders. She does not lay her head down at all.

Personality:

Haley is really a very content baby and does not need or really even like to be held much unless it's eating time. She loves to lay down and kick and when she's tired she likes to be put in her bouncy seat or the swing and goes off to sleep on her own. We used to have to rock and sway Jonah to sleep and then try to lay him down and then many time he would wake back up. I am thankful that Haley seems content to put herself to sleep because it has helped a lot with Jonah being so active. She also is content to just sit in her bouncy seat and hang out while I do things around the house. As long as she can hear or see me she is usually fine. Also, Haley absolutely loves white noise. When she is getting tired and a little fussy I just turn on my white noise app on the phone and usually she is out within minutes. That little discovery has been a life-saver!

We are just so overjoyed with our sweet Haley bug and can't wait to see her change and develop over the next few months. I am just soaking up every bit of these first stages of her being a baby because now I know how fast it goes by.

Haley - 1 Month Old!

I cannot believe that one whole month has come and gone for our sweet, precious Haley! She is just the sweetest and best baby ever!! I am biased of course. LOL Here is what she has been up to so far in her first month of life.

Weight: Not totally sure but I would guess she is past the 8 lb mark
Height: Probably still close to 20 inches long

Sleep:

Haley is so much better of a sleeper than Jonah ever thought about being and that has been a God-send! She goes 3 to 3.5 hours between bottles and takes about an hour to 2 hour nap between feedings. She still gets up twice in the night to eat. Once usually around midnight to 1:00 a.m. and then again around 4:30 to 5:00 in the morning. She sleeps very soundly in the night (or maybe we just pass out so deeply we don't hear her LOL). She doesn't just wake up and scream for the bottle either. She just kind of starts stirring and then we know it's time for her to eat because she never goes back to sleep once she starts stirring. I usually feed the midnight one and then Michael does the early morning one so I can rest more. It takes her a good 20 minutes to finish a bottle and then burp and sometimes she has gas so the whole process is almost an hour worth in the night. It's great to have Michael's help at night and especially as I transition back to working.

Haley is a noisy sleeper though. She grunts and wallows around in the bed for a while but she does go to sleep on her own. I don't remember Jonah being so noisy or going to sleep without our help. She does like the pacifier from time to time to get her calmed down enough for sleep. She takes it in spurts though. All in all, we are so grateful for her being a good sleeper this time around...we are older than we were with Jonah, ya know! LOL

Haley is also a great napper and she can sleep through anything. We don't make Jonah be super quiet when she is asleep and he plays with is toys (many that make noises) and it never phases her. She even slept through the lawn mower while we were outside the other day. Michael was mowing with Jonah on there with him and so we were outside and it was loud. I had her ears covered with a blanket but still. I don't know how she did that!

Eating:

Haley takes 3.5 ounces at each bottle already and I am sure we will be up to 4 ounces soon. We haven't had any issues with her formula and she does not seem to have any major gas issues other than the normal stuff. She does not spit up regularly either, which I attribute a lot of that to having her adjusted twice already by our family chiropractor. Once at the hospital the night she was born and then last week he adjusted her again.

Personality:

Haley is just the most content baby! We can just lay her down anywhere and she is just happy to be there and will fall asleep just about anywhere too. The only time she fusses is if she is having a gas pain and then once it's passed you can lay her back wherever she was and she is fine. She just seems to be an easy-going baby for the most part and we have gotten lots of little smiles (probably gas but we'll take it) and coos already.

Milestones:

Lots of firsts of course.

-First bath
-First trip to church, Roro's, Nana's, Hobby Lobby, grocery store and Dr. office
-First time sleeping in crib
-First smiles and coos
-Loosing her cord stump

Loves:

Haley loves her swing and bouncy seat. She loves her bottle and pacifier. She also loves white noise like fans and the dishwasher running. She loves her bath and has never fussed once when she is getting bathed. I think she also loves her Mommy, Daddy and big brother too.

Hates:

She hates being dressed and having her arms handled too much. She hates the car seat sometimes too. I think she hates it because her little head has to be squished in the newborn support and then we have to handle her arms a bit to get her latched in and she doesn't like that. Once she is comfy she will go right to sleep in the car though.


1 Month Pictures!!

We just love how Haley has rounded out our little family and can't wait for all the fun that she will continue to bring to our lives. I am hoping to post some more before I have to go back to work full time. I want to write about how Jonah has taken to being a big brother and some other happenings around our home. Stay tuned!
