A few times I have got the question, "why did you all choose the name Jonah?". So I thought I would answer it here for anyone who might be curious...and just to document for my own personal use.
When Michael and I were throwing name ideas around we both wanted something that was a little unique...but not totally off-the-wall. We both wanted to use a Biblical name but not one of the standards like Matthew, John or Luke. One day I said, "what about Jonah?" and Michael thought for a moment and agreed that he liked it. Just that alone was a major achievement because most of the names I suggested he would dismiss instantly. He had already mentioned that he wanted to use the family name Campbell from his paternal grandmother's maiden name. So we decided on Jonah Campbell!
Now that he is here I think the name suits him perfectly!

The baby sleeps tonight!!
Well this is such a momentous occasion that I felt compelled to blog about it so that I know that it did actually happen.
JONAH SLEPT THROUGH THE NIGHT!!!!
The day, well night, that we have been anxiously awaiting finally came last night. I put him in his crib asleep at 8:30 last night and he slept until 5:30 this morning! Now when I say he slept through the night that does not mean he didn't make a peep. He woke me up about 4 times through the night fussing because he had either lost his paci or just kind of stirred but didn't wake up completely. I was amazed because he usually has been waking up to eat at least around midnight to 1 am and then again around 4 or 5 am. But he never actually woke up any of the times he was fussing last night because I would just put his pacifier back in his mouth and rub his back a little and he was back sleeping quietly.
I have several theories as to why this happened and we will see if they are true come tonight. We had a big day yesterday going to visit Michael's parent's and his first trip to Wal-Mart (which was a madhouse). So I think his daytime sleep schedule got screwed up. Anyhow I am just happy that we got a very good night's rest and we will just have to see if this is a new trend or just a fluke episode.

Jonah is 2 months old!!
Jonah is two months old today and growing like a weed! Here are some pictures from the past month.
He is really starting to fill out those newborn onesies. Maybe we are getting closer to wearing all the TONS of 0-3 month outfits he has that are about to go out of season!! Oh well!!
At 2 months Jonah likes:
-he likes to be in his swing in the morning and he will go to sleep easily in it while I am taking a shower and getting ready. I think the noises of the morning activities make him sleepy like my hairdryer and such.
-he likes to be held when he is tired and gets pretty angry if you try to ignore him
-he likes sleeping in his crib and has been doing that pretty consistently, although we have to go in and check on him a couple times between night feedings
-he likes his paci when he is tired and it helps him settle down for naps but when he is hungry he wants nothing to do with it
-he likes to be outside and he gets so still and calm as soon as you go out the door...of course his Daddy loves this fact about him :)
-he likes to ride in the vehicle most of the time and usually gets relaxed or sleeps even on short trips.
-he likes going to Church so far and has slept through it most of the time
-he loves his Nana and Papa and loves going to their house everyday while Mommy works
At 2 months Jonah does NOT like:
-he really is a happy baby for the most part and the only thing he doesn't like to do is sleep very much or for very long. He is still only sleeping about 2-3 hours stretches at night which is pretty exhausting for us but we know if will get better.
We love watching our little man grow and are so proud of him!!
The closest I could get to catching a smile |
In his swing which he loves mainly in the mornings And now here's a comparison from his 1 month picture. Can't believe how much he has grown!! |

Jonah Campbell Cheatham
Our first child, Jonah, was born at 5:31 on July 21, 2010 at Gateway Hospital in Clarksville, TN. He weighted 5 lbs. 12 oz. and was 19 1/2 inches long. My labor was induced that day at around 9:00 and he was born naturally (with epidural). Mom and Michael were in the room with me. He was happy and healthy.
We were totally suprised by how much hair he had (a full head of it). We were also surprised that he was so little. Just a week before I had an ultrasound and they estimated that he would be around 7 pounds but they were way off!
While Jonah was completely healthy, I had some really high blood pressure going into labor and afterwards. It was so high that my doctor decided I needed to go on magnesium via IV to get it to come down. So I had to go on that the night he was born and all through the next day and night until they thought it was safe for me to go to postpartum. It was horrible and much worse to me than the actual delivery. It made me feel like I had the flu. I had a terrible headache, it made me sleepy and my mouth dry. I couldn't eat anything and could only have ice chips occasionally. I couldn't get up to go to the bathroom or anything. Michael was great and took care of Jonah and fed him all the time worrying about my health.
I am happy to say that now my BP is back to normal and I seem to be healthy. It was an awful memory to have from my first delivery but you can never predict what will happen! We are thankful that the Lord watched over us through it all!

Why am I blogging?!
Well I have decided to take the plunge and start blogging after admiring several blogs over the years and wishing to start one. I thought now was as good a time as any! I can't promise that I will be a very faithful or regular blogger but I hope to share the important things in my life and use this blog to express my thoughts and feelings from my little corner of the world. I also wanted to start this blog to keep my family and friends, that we don't get to see that often, up-to-date with what is going on with us and hopefully keep up with them too.
I guess the first place to start is with who I am and a little bit about me and my family. My name is April and I have been happily married to an amazing man (Michael) for going on 7 years. We just had our first child, Jonah Campbell, on July 21, 2010!!! We think he is about the most awesome thing and we thank God for blessing us with him! He is 7 weeks old as I write this post and a healthy boy that we wish would just sleep a little longer than he wants to. He was 5 pounds and 12 ounces when he was born so he is still pretty little and I guess he doesn't hold much milk :)
We live in Dover, Tennessee where most of my family is and where I grew up. Michael is from Clarksville, TN. We love living in the country and being in a small town where you pretty much know everyone.
That is about all I can think of to say today but I will be back soon to post some pics from previous years and from when Jonah was born.
XOXO
