It's ok that after having my E-reader for over 4 months I finally bought a book to read on it. I am loving it so far!
It's ok that I have been eating leftovers from our weekend church picnic and BBQ leftover from my brother's tool shower. I haven't had to cook much in a few days. :)
It's ok that I have no idea what I will make for supper tonight.
It's ok that we bought a new bed set 2 weeks ago and I still have not changed my curtains or put shams in my sham pillowcases to "finish" the look. Ugh! I'll get there some day.
It's ok that my van looks like a bomb went off inside it and needs to be cleaned out badly!
It's ok that need to get my checkbook current....ok maybe that isn't ok...LOL
It's ok that I had an extra cup of coffee this morning....I'm raring to go now. :)
It's ok that I am in denial that I have a two year old that still uses his paci to get to sleep.
It's ok that I am pasty white again (after all that tanning) just in time for my brother's upcoming wedding.
It's ok that I bought a redbox movie Saturday night and forgot to watch or return it yet. Must do that today.
It's ok that I have not worked out in months. I am changing that this week already though. Back to walking and the elliptical even if I have to get off it many times to tend to Jonah.
It's ok that I am looking forward to finally having a weekend of nothing planned to do. It's been a long time since we had no where we had to go or nothing we had to get ready for.
What are your "it's ok" moments?

Sharing My Home & Heart.....Here
I don't have very many readers (that I know about) except my followers. I use this blog mainly as a way to scrapbook Jonah's little life and our family life. But I want to change that slightly in the coming months. We will see how it goes. I am going to start mixing in some more random thoughts type posts (brain-dumps) and start sharing more of what I believe and my faith in Jesus. I also will be sharing more of what our home is like and projects we may be doing.
My intent is still to record our lives here but I want to try to share more of just "Jonah did this" or "we went here" kind of stuff and more of who I really am and what I believe in. I want those things recorded just as much as the other things.
So here goes and we will see what I come up with.

A Wedding Shower {Kyle & Mandy}
The ladies at our church hosted a wedding shower for my brother, Kyle and his fiance Mandy (one of my bestest friends). It was so nice and they got a lot of really useful things for their new life together. I snapped some pictures of the decorations to share for ideas.
The wedding colors are coral and a deeper coral color called guava. The shower was done using coral, cream and brown. We are sitting at 16 days until the wedding! Yay!
Kyle and Mandy seated. Mandy's Mother, Renee, behind her and my Mom behind Kyle.
Mrs. Renee putting her thumb print on the tree.
The food table
We have a wonderful cake decorator that attends our Church and has made all the shower cakes. Yummy!
Love how the bulletin board was done. One of the ladies made those wood plaques. So cute!
Delicious punch made with orange sorbet.
The sign in table. Everyone wrote a wedding wish on the strips of paper and they will be rolled up and put in the clear ornaments for their first Christmas tree.
Some of the neat gifts.
Hope you enjoyed the pictures. P.S. I know the red carpet and upholstery are hideous but our fellowship hall used to be our old church building. We are hoping the carpet can be replaced with some kind of hardwood or laminate flooring in the future. LOL

2 Year Well-Check Update
Yesterday we went to see our favorite Dr. for Jonah's two year well-check. He was healthy and did not have to get a shot this time! Yay! So the visit was nice and stress-free. Dr. Roads even said if we got tired of him that he would take him. LOL!
Here are his stats right now:
Height: 34 inches (39th percentile)
Weight: 26.2 lbs (27th percentile)
Head Circ: 48.5 cm (45th percentile)
So the Dr. still says he is proportional and still "not the biggest kid on the block" but nothing to be concerned about. He does have a whopper of a head though. LOL
Jonah did so good letting the Dr. check out his ears and hear his heartbeat. I tried to talk to him and tell him what the Dr. would do so maybe that made a difference this time in him being prepared for what would happen next.
We just feel so blessed to have a healthy child and we pray he continues to stay that way. :)

Jonah's Second Birthday Party {Train-tastic}
We celebrated Jonah's second birthday this past Saturday, on his actual birthday. This year we chose to keep the soiree indoors in the AC even though we had beautiful sunshine.....it was HOT! But we were nice and cool in our church's fellowship hall. We had a small gathering of Jonah's friends and some family and he got WAY too much stuff but it was so fun to mingle with everyone!
I chose the theme again for his party and we did trains. He is really into all things with wheels but he does love trains ever since we put one up at Christmas. He also loves watching Thomas the Train videos and will sit and watch them all the way through. I figured he would not always be into trains to why not do that theme this year while he is little. The colors were mostly orange, green and light blue. My Mom helped me get some trains cut out and the number two and we arranged those in mason jars with white beans for the centerpieces. The train cake was done by a local bakery and it was so yummy. I made the fabric banner and I ordered his name train from Etsy. I tried to keep the decorations simple since the ladies of the church had to decorate for my brother and future sister-in-laws shower immediately following Jonah's party. LOL
Anyways...enough talking.....here are some of the pictures from the party. (In no particular order)
Mommy and Dada got him a new tricycle, which he calls "bike." He loves it!
Nana & Papaw got him a water table to play with at their house.
Opening presents
The setup....
Jonah with Papaw and Nana...cheesing
Centerpieces
My first attempt at a fruit pizza. It was good but lets just say my oven needs a good cleaning. Note: two tubes of sugar cookie dough do not stay on a pizza stone in the oven. LOL
Jonah and cousin Aaron checking out the new rides.
Jonah and one of his best buds...Neely...or as he says "Nee Nee"
He tried hard to blow out the candle but never could get it.
The cake....what can I say....at least it tasted great!!
Obligatory family pic

Jonah is 2!!
My precious baby boy is not a baby any more at all. He is a big 2 year old now! He is growing and learning so many new things every day. I can hardly keep up with it all! I just want to record the little intricacies of his little personality right now.
Jonah's Likes:
-anything with wheels that he can roll along the floor. He usually will lay down on the floor beside whatever he is rolling. It is too cute! Like he has to be right at the same level.
-enjoys watching Thomas the Train videos and Clifford in the car. He will watch Sprout channels some during the day and he likes Caillou too. His favorite movie is Cars (the first one) and will stay attentive to most of the movie.
-likes to help us when we ask him to. He loves to help put away laundry and pick up things for us. He likes to help push the grocery cart and push the laundry baskets for us. He thinks he is so strong.
-Dada so much right now and wants to be doing whatever Dada is doing. He is definitely all boy. We joke and say Michael (Dada) is a celebrity in this house because Jonah can hear the back door barely crack and he goes running yelling "Dada Dada Dada" all the way down the hallway.
-loves his fruits of any kind. We haven not found one he doesn't like. He would choose fruit over chocolate cake I do believe. He does not seem to have a big sweet tooth, at lest he doesn't not request sweets but will partake if we offer them.
-likes chicken, ham and turkey but is not a fan of burger meat right now.
-likes most of the veggies we give him but we have to sometimes bribe him to take that first bite. Usually once he tastes it he will gobble it up. He is not a big fan of macaroni and cheese, which seems strange because most kids like that.
-loves water and milk still and we don't give a lot of juice at all. I do sweeten his water sometimes with those flavor packs. He likes those too.
-loves sleeping in his crib and we have not even considered converting it to a toddler bed yet because he was not tried to get out so far. We will see what this next year brings us.
-playing with his red cozy coupe car on the carport.
-loves going to Church and his little nursery classmates. He does pretty well most of the time when we sit in the auditorium.
-loves to hear the singing at Church and I know he is singing in his heart. He wants to see the song leader when they start too.
-still loves his books (which we love) and usually when we think he is being too quiet and go check on him, he has a big pile of books spread all around him and he's just looking at the pictures.
-loves his Mommy, especially when he get a boo boo. He comes straight to me for kisses on his boo boo. Thankfully we have not needed a band aid for any yet. (knock on wood)
Obviously he likes a lot of things LOL
Dislikes:
-when he cannot get a toy to work like he wants it too he gets really frustrated and will huff and puff about it. I wonder where he gets his perfectionism from.....hmmmm
-when he can't go outside because it is too hot. He loves to be outside.
-starting to express his own opinion and wants and since he cannot talk well yet, we have our little outburst and tantrums. So far no rolling on the floor screaming and usually a simple quiet time out will do the trick and talking about whatever the problem is. Also distraction helps.
-starting to dislike having to take a bath. I think it is usually because he has to stop doing whatever fun thing he is into at the time. Once he is in the tub he has fun.
-dislikes going to bed some nights too for obvious reasons. He puts himself to sleep for the most part but he jabbers more than we would like.
He does not have many dislikes right now...which is a good thing.
Other milestones and notes:
Eating:
I mentioned a lot of his food likes above but just wanted to note that he now primarily eats with an adult size fork and does really well. Using a spoon is still a struggle but just because we don't use it that much. He chews so good now and that makes me less worried about the types of food he can eat. He is a total neat-nick when it comes to meal time. If he gets one little spec on his hand or his mouth where he can feel it he will fuss and want us to wipe it off. I like this about him and I'm pretty sure it's my fault he is like that but oh well. He loves any kind of potato too....just like his Mommy. We both feel like he has pretty good manners compared to most other toddlers. He chews with his mouth closed on his own and he does not sling food or make a mess on purpose. He just eats and gets the job done and then he is off to play. I hope it continues to go as well in the coming years.
Playing:
Like I said above he loves anything with wheels and is big into trains right now. He loves to build with blocks and do peg puzzles. He is really good with playing with one toy for a long time and then getting out another one. We make him put his living room toys up every night and he does it very well without complaining. He still loves playing with his kitchen set too and will bring us food to eat. I feel like his attention span with toys is pretty good. He does not like to share his toys or anything he is playing with. I know that is something that will come in time. He really hates it when other kids take the toys he is playing with and he will just go into tears but he doesn't try to hold onto it when they swipe. LOL. He will learn to hang on tighter.
Personality:
Right now Jonah's personality is trending toward being similar to mine. He is shy and cautious in new situations but eventually warms up. He is friendly from distance but if you get to close and he doesn't know you then he will kind of fuss like "don't touch me please." LOL He is meticulous about some things and loves a routine. If you do something one way with him he will want it done that same way next time and will remember and call you out if you try it differently. For example he knows which seat is mine and which is Michael's at the dinner table. If we switch spots for whatever reason he is like wait that is not your spot. Ha! He is gentle hearted and does not like to see other children upset and will just watch them until they calm down. He is like Michael in that he knows how to charm. He will flash that smile and look so cute when he wants too but when he doesn't get his way....watch out! LOL I think he has the perfect personality to be a big brother. :) Maybe soon!
Sleeping:
Sleep is still going as well as it can be. He sleeps soundly unless he is hurting with teeth or not feeling well or has a stuffy nose. He still takes the paci at naptime and bed time but does not use it in between those times. I am not ready to force the issue yet and think he will give it up in time, but Michael wants to get rid of it all together. I say he can stay up with him if he wants to do that. LOL He usually naps one time in the afternoon right after lunch time. He sleeps usually 2 hours and can go 3 sometimes but we have tried to limit it to 2 hours so he will be ready to go to bed at 8:30. He goes down for "night-night" at anywhere from 8:30 to 9:00 but usually is not asleep until a little after 9. That is where it is hard right now because he puts himself to sleep for the most part (we go in and rub his back or tell him to settle down) but it seems to take him a good 20 minutes to get to sleep. I hope that is normal but he just doesn't seem to get sleepy enough until after 9:00.
Jonah is wearing a size 4 diaper and does not seem to be quite ready for the potty yet. We talk about it some but he still doesn't get it. He will tell us when he is wet or dirty but that is about it.
Jonah is wearing size 18 month clothes and they fit him big right now. He is about 27 pounds by our scale. He is wearing about a size 5.5 to 6 shoe. He gets his hair trimmed every 4 weeks and definitely needs it by then. His hair is just like mine for the most part....straight as a stick and very fine. He has recently cut his top fang teeth and is working on the two bottom ones right now. I will be so glad when they all come in because he does not handle teething well and gets all the negative symptoms that come with teething.
Jonah's vocabulary is getting better but I still wonder if he is behind a little in speech. I think he is just taking his time and making sure he can say words pretty good before he goes blurting them out. A few words he uses regularly are: more, please, yes (uh-huh), no (uh-uh), hi, bye-bye, night-night, boat, car (bar), fire tuck (bire), ice, blue, green, uh-oh, Neely (nee nee), Briley (bi), Mama, Dada, Nana, Pa-paw, Au (Audrey), Bobo, poop.
Well I cannot think of anything else and I know this as long as a book but I just gotta get it all written down so I don't forget anything.

The BLOGGER 411; all you need to know about ME!
I decided in an effort to record more about myself to look back on and for Jonah to read some day, I would link up to this neat party.
Welcome!! My name is April.
1. How long have you been blogging? And what got you started on blogging? Has
your blog changed?
I started blogging in Sept. 2010 about the time I went back to work after having my first child. I started blogging as a way to record Jonah's milestones and keep a "baby book" of sorts for him and I to look back on. I plan to make my blog into several books, like a scrapbook. I don't feel my blogging has changed much besides I just try to be as honest and real as I can about our real life.
2. Did you go to college? If so where, and what did
you study?
I went to Austin Peay State University and Nashville Tech Community College. I got my associates in Business first and then got my Bachelors in Business:Accounting at APSU. I was married for the last 2 years of school but we made it work.
3. Where have you traveled?
I have not been out of the US but would love to go to Italy one day. I have been to CA in high school and got to see LA and we went to some famous beaches: Venus and Laguna beach. We even saw a few celebrities near Rodeo Dr.: Steve Martin, Lonestar, Winona, Yanni, David Spade. I have been to Destin, FL (honeymoon), Gulf Shores, AL (recent vaca), Gatlinburg, Bristol, TN, Arkansas. That's about it.
4. If you won the lottery, what
would be the first thing you would buy?
My son's fully funded college fund. And then I would splurge on a new vehicle of some kind.
5. What are your 3 biggest pet
peeves?
1. When people slurp their drinks
2. When people stand too close to me in the checkout line while I am paying.
3. People that are inconsiderate, in general.
6. What is your favorite movie?
I would have to say the movie based on the book Little Women
7. What is your drink of choice;
wine, beer, or liquor. Or Water, Soda, Tea?
SWEET TEA!!!
8. What is something you
enjoy to do when you have me time?
I love to sew and learn more about sewing...a close second would be shopping for fabric.
9. If you could have a $10,000
shopping spree to one store, which store would it be?
Hmm...this is a hard one but I think I will go with Target. I can never find something I don't want to buy in that store.
10. Share with us an
embarrassing moment of your past? Or present.
Hmm....another hard one....I have so many LOL. I think the most recent one that comes to mind is when Jonah and I were eating at Chik-Fil-A and I realized they didn't give me any sauce. So I went up to the very busy counter and asked the guy if I could have some Zaxby's sauce. He looked at me strange but didn't say anything so I repeated myself and then it finally hit me.....I am not at Zaxby's, I'm at Chik-Fil-A! Duh!!! I blame Mommy-brain for that one and many others.
11. What day would
you love to relive again?
Hands down it would be the day that I married Michael. I would love to go back and relish every moment of that day.
12. If your life was turned into a movie... what actor
would play you?
I am taking a wild guess with this one and saying Meg Ryan....not even sure why. I love her in movies.
13. What are the jobs you had in high school/college/the
early years?
I worked at an in-home daycare in HS. Definitely taught me I was in no way ready for kids any time soon.
14. Show us a picture from high school or
college.
Me and my two besties from HS. I am on far right. Gotta love the perm!
15. If you could travel anywhere in the world, all expenses
paid, where would you go?
I would tour Italy and Rome and Venice.
16. Show us the most current picture of you or you,
or your family, or anything of meaning to you.
17. Where do you see your
life 5 years from now?
I see myself trying to be the best Mother I can and teach my son (and any other children that may come along) right from wrong and all the valuable life lessons he will need to know. I see myself hopefully still in a successful career and I hope to see Michael doing something he enjoys. I see us still in our little starter house and Jonah will be in school by then. I am sure much of our life will be changed but I know for sure that we will still be striving to be Christians that love the Lord.
I hope you enjoyed reading this and it didn't bore you too much. Have a great day!!
